Cases We've Handled in Chester & Cheshire

We have extensive experience handling domestic abuse cases across Chester and Cheshire. Here are examples of the types of cases we regularly resolve.

Emergency Non-Molestation Order — Chester

Order granted and upheld

Obtained an emergency without-notice non-molestation order for a Chester resident within hours, protecting them from harassment and threats. Successfully defended the order at the full hearing.

Occupation Order with Children — Cheshire

Abuser removed from home

Secured an occupation order requiring an abuser to leave the family home in Cheshire, allowing the primary carer and children to remain in a safe, stable environment.

Coercive Control Case — North Wales

Comprehensive protection secured

Represented a client experiencing financial and emotional coercive control. Obtained injunctive relief and coordinated with child arrangements proceedings to protect both the client and their children.

Urgent Applications — Same-Day Orders

In urgent cases, the court can grant an injunction on the same day — without the other person being notified first. This is called a "without notice" (ex parte) application.

Without notice applications are appropriate where there is an immediate risk of harm and it would not be safe to wait for a hearing at which both parties are present.

We can advise on whether an urgent application is appropriate for your circumstances and act quickly to protect you.

What Counts as Domestic Abuse?

Domestic abuse is not limited to physical violence. The legal definition includes:

Physical violence or threats
Psychological or emotional abuse
Financial control or coercion
Isolation from family and friends
Controlling behaviour
Sexual abuse or coercion
Harassment or stalking
Threatening behaviour towards children
