A Lasting Power of Attorney can be revoked at any time while the donor has mental capacity. You might want to revoke an LPA because your circumstances have changed, your relationship with your attorney has broken down, or you have concerns about how your attorney is acting.
How to Revoke an LPA
To revoke an LPA, you must: execute a deed of revocation; notify the Office of the Public Guardian in writing, enclosing the original LPA; and notify your attorneys in writing that the LPA has been revoked.
Simply telling your attorney that you no longer want them to act is not sufficient to revoke an LPA. The formal revocation process must be followed, and the OPG must be notified.
