How Much Does a Lasting Power of Attorney Cost?

LPA costs vary depending on whether you use a solicitor, a will-writing service, or the DIY route. This guide breaks down all the costs involved — including the OPG registration fee.

The cost of making an LPA depends on how you choose to make it — whether you use a solicitor, a will-writing service, or the DIY route through the Office of the Public Guardian's online service.

The OPG Registration Fee

Every LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. The current registration fee is £82 per LPA — so £164 to register both types.

The cost of not having an LPA is far greater than the cost of making one. A deputyship application to the Court of Protection typically costs between £3,000 and £5,000 in legal fees, plus ongoing annual supervision fees.
